Golden Doodles

About the Breed

Goldendoodles are a popular cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, known for their affectionate personalities, intelligence, and family-friendly nature. They combine many of the best traits of both breeds, making them a wonderful companion for a wide range of households.

Friendly & Social
Goldendoodles are naturally outgoing and love being around people. They tend to form strong bonds with their families and enjoy being included in daily activities. Their social nature also makes them great with guests and new environments.

Great Family Dogs
With their gentle and playful demeanor, Goldendoodles typically do very well with children and other pets. They are patient, adaptable, and thrive in homes where they receive plenty of attention and interaction.

Highly Intelligent & Trainable
Thanks to their Poodle and Golden Retriever lineage, Goldendoodles are quick learners and eager to please. They respond well to positive reinforcement training and often excel in obedience, therapy work, and even agility.

Playful & Energetic
Goldendoodles have a fun-loving, energetic side and enjoy activities like fetch, walks, and outdoor play. They do best in homes that can provide regular exercise and mental stimulation.

Affectionate & Loyal
These dogs are known for their loving, people-oriented personalities. Many Goldendoodles are happiest when they’re close to their owners—whether that’s playing, training, or simply relaxing together.

Low to Moderate Shedding (Varies)
One of the appealing traits of Goldendoodles is their coat, which can be wavy or curly and often sheds less than a traditional Golden Retriever. However, coat type and shedding can vary depending on genetics, and regular grooming is still required.

Goldendoodles offer a wonderful balance of intelligence, affection, and adaptability—making them an excellent choice for families, individuals, and first-time dog owners alike.

Required Care

Goldendoodles are loving, intelligent dogs, but they do require consistent care to keep them healthy, comfortable, and well-adjusted. Being prepared for their grooming, exercise, and overall care needs will help your puppy thrive from day one.

Grooming Needs
Goldendoodles typically have wavy to curly coats that require regular maintenance. Brushing 3–5 times per week helps prevent matting and tangles, especially in curlier coats. Professional grooming is usually needed every 6–8 weeks for trimming and coat care. Routine ear cleaning, nail trimming, and dental care are also important to keep them feeling their best.

Exercise & Activity
Goldendoodles are an active and playful breed that benefits from daily physical activity. Plan for at least 45–60 minutes of exercise each day, such as walks, playtime, or interactive games. They also enjoy mental stimulation like training sessions, puzzle toys, or learning new commands to keep their minds engaged.

Training & Socialization
Because they are highly intelligent and people-focused, Goldendoodles respond very well to positive reinforcement training. Early training and consistent routines help them develop into well-mannered companions. Ongoing socialization with people, environments, and other animals builds confidence and reduces anxiety.

Veterinary Care
Routine veterinary care is essential, including wellness exams, vaccinations, and parasite prevention. Regular checkups help ensure your dog stays healthy and allow early detection of any potential concerns.

Nutrition & Diet
A high-quality, balanced diet tailored to your dog’s age, size, and activity level is key. Goldendoodles can vary in size, so portion control is important to prevent overfeeding. Always provide fresh water, and keep treats in moderation.

Attention & Companionship
Goldendoodles thrive on human interaction and do best in homes where they are not left alone for long periods. They are happiest when included in daily life and given plenty of attention, affection, and engagement.
