Thank you for visiting. My name is Jackie. I am an OBGYN Nurse Practitioner. My husband Scott is a firefighter with the city. We have a passion for animals, family, friends and fun. We enjoy boating on Lake Wylie during the warm months and are season ticket holders for the Charlotte Checkers hockey team in the fall and winter. We have 5 children and 2 grandchildren, 4 dogs, a horse and a multitude of tropical fish.
And now it is time to answer the big question. Why do we breed? The answer is simple. We are absolutely crazy about our dogs. My entire life has been spent with at least 2 dogs. At one point, I even had 7 dogs. I cannot imagine a world without their little wet noses and warm snuggles.
I believe being a pet owner is a huge responsibility. It devastates me when dogs (or any animal) ends up in a rescue or pound. I strongly believe this happens due to irresponsible owners and irresponsible breeders. Dogs from pet shops, back yard breeders, puppy mills are absolutely the problem and cause of the pet over population problem. These animals are typically bred with no consideration to health, temperament, or future placement. Not every dog is for every family.
At Carolina Lakeside Goldens, I strive to produce healthy, affordable pets and place them with the correct person or family. I assess each puppy's personality to determine his strengths and weaknesses, as well as do a screening of potential owners to find a good match. My end goal is to find a forever home for our babies and to be able to give each person the gift of their new best friend.
I have had dogs my whole life. I remember each and every face, and can still feel the softness or coarseness of their fur. Some of my dogs were rescued mutts, some I purchased at the pet store (long before I knew better), and some were purchased from great breeders.
I have owned Lab mixes, Great Danes, Golden Retrievers, Dalmatians, a Jack Russel, and Pit Bulls. Each and every one of these pups were special. Their personalities and qualities were so different. My Great Danes were so laid back, but my Jack Russel would bounce of the walls. Literally y'all. Literally.
Despite all their greatness, none has stood out to me like the Golden Retriever. They are so smart and eager to please. Their friendly, even temperaments towards children, strangers and animals is unmatched in my opinion. They are quick and keen enough to be great hunting dogs, and gentle enough to be therapy dogs. Not to mention, have you ever seen such a beautiful dog as the Golden?
